Finger Blur.

Disposable cameras don’t get the credit they deserve.

It’s highly likely that some of your favourite photos were probably taken on that temperamental piece of plastic you use once and chuck in the bin. Which is why Finger Blur sounded like our kind of exhibition. 14 disposables were sent to 14 people around the world—including the likes of Craig Anderson, Bobby Dekeyzer and Jed Anderson—and the results are what’ll be on show for all to see. We chatted to Izzy Brinsdon of RAYL about the upcoming shows in Sydney and Melbourne, to see what we can expect. – Monster Children.

DEATH RITES

In the late 80s and early 90s skateboarding was heavily indebted to thrash metal. Decks and merch were covered in skulls and bleeding eye sockets, Suicidal Tendencies had released “Possessed To Skate”, and Venom blasted on the 1984 Let it Bleed video. It was skate rock or die.

In Sydney, Shawn Yates and his high school friends were shredding rails and head banging to bands such as Death, Nihili – Noisey.

Sitka Makers Series : Rob Pinkney

Bringing forth an item from history, Rob Pinkney and Sitka created a New Zealand trade axe, or Patiti. Hand crafted in Te Awamutu using traditional methods it’s incredible to see the process take place in the current day.

Zine’s are unique in the way they can be be quickly produced and consumed, not unlike a lot of other content these days, but because of the tangible printed nature of them, they are also permanent. Amy Hood makes zines, but you could nearly produce one yourself by listing off her other endeavours she partakes in. What Youth caught up with Amy to chat and also produced this short video following her through some print making process.
