Around the start of the year Chase Hawk left Vans to join an ever expanding team of riders over at Etnies. At the time not a whole lot more than a couple of photos and a formal announcement was made. The reason? this video below. Having the extra time Chase teamed up with filmer Mike Manzoori to put together an edit worthy of Chase’s riding. The video over nine minutes in length, features an intro from fellow team members like Corey Martinez, Nathan Williams and Aaron Ross. Then it winds up to a full section with killer tunes by Black Cobra to compliment Chases’ effortless style, amazing bike control and his ability to appear comfortable on anything he rides. The video ends with a bunch of second angles, behind the scenes clips and a hint of a third Etnies project. This is definitely one to watch.

This video stands out for a few reasons. Firstly the riding is amazing, with big lines, ridiculous rail-ledge combos and Alex’s ability on the front wheel. Secondly he’s wearing a helmet through out the section which is something that, whilst becoming more common, is still an unusual site. Lastly, he’s riding to the Pixies, which, well, it’s the Pixies so I don’t need to say much more than that.

Some cool stories need dragons, lasers or fire to keep the audiences attention, Mutiny Bikes however needs none of those. The final instalment of their ‘Cool Story Bro’ series is a fitting last chapter to one of the best bmx video series produced. Mutiny brought a refreshing look, feel and depth to a style of video that had long lost its lustre. Featuring sections footage from Robbo, Matt Roe, Josh Bedford, Justin Simpson, Brandon Hoerres, Grant Castelluzzo along with others and filmed across USA, Spain, France, Germany and England over the course of eight months. Cool Story Bro is really just that, a Cool Story, Bro.

The ‘Keep It Local’ tour heads to Calgary this time with a New Zealand twist. Hamilton rider Jono Hopping joins Simone Barraco, Lahsaan Kobza and Trey Jones. The city delivers with some seriously good looking spots and with over seven minutes of footage retained for the dvd there is going to be some hammers to come.

Focalpoint BMX have dropped the first mix tape in their web series “Into The City”. We dropped the trailer a little while back and have been anticipating this release and it does not disappoint. The riding is solid but what sets it apart is the filming, editing and post production work that gives the video a clean polished look but maintains the vibe you would associate with a street mixtape. Looking forward to volume two already.

Cult have just released their latest full length dvd offering via The Come Up for you to watch for free. So Talk really is Cheap. Featuring full sections from the likes of Trey Jones, Chase Hawk and a hell of a closer courtesy of Dakota Roche.

Riding in the city, and the encounters you have whilst searching for spots and cruising around, is something unique. You get to see and experience sides of the city that few else do. I can’t count the amount of hours I’ve spent rolling around buildings, through buildings, down alleyways, bridges, tunnels, car parks – places many people just pass on by. Then there are all the people you run into; from workers and shoppers, to the more colourful in the wee hours of the morning. Dealing with these characters,  as well as with security and with cops, it all adds to the fun and the excitement and provides you with an ever changing landscape to explore.  FocalpointBMX gives you an insight into this world in their new mixtape series entitled “Into the City” which is focused around their hometown Melbourne.

Hot off the heels of the release of their full length “Get Used To It” production a bunch of the Subrosa team headed to Atlanta. The crew consisted of Lahsaan Kobza, Joris Coulomb, Simone Barraco, Kyle Hart, Scott Ditchburn, Nick Bullen, Hoang Tran, Kyle Hart and if I heard correctly over the sound of the Profile Elite hub, Mark Mulville. Solid mix of street, trails and some search and destroy missions inside abandoned buildings makes thirteen minutes of good times bmx.
